My husband and I moved to Paris about 6 months ago and it’s one of the most rewarding but also exhausting things we’ve done. I recall those final weeks before moving. We were so ready to just get here. I hope you enjoy your last few weeks in London before your move and wishing you an easy move!!
Ah, the final few weeks in a place are so emotional. Hope you can make the most of it in between preparations to leave. Suggestions for very London-y things to do if you have not already: Smithfield meat market, Thames Clipper from Westminster to the Thames Barrier, Alfie's Antiques Market on Church Street, walk along the Grand Union Canal. Bon voyage!
We left London in 2023 after 11 years there for the exact reasons you have described. We are now in the South of France (Paris felt too similar in terms of lifestyle, we wanted a big change) and it's been amazing- no regrets! Good luck with the move, and London will always be there to be enjoyed as a tourist - without the downsides!
My husband (French) and I (American) moved from Dublin to Paris in 2019. It's been the best decision for us in terms of quality of life as well as our mental & physical health. We've been able to buy an apartment and had a baby here which seemed like an outrageous undertaking in other locations we'd called home before. Wishing you both all the best in your move and transition!
